7/31/2007 Sentosa!Went to Sentosa to celebrate Peiwen's birthday. It's been a loooooooooooong time since I last stepped onto that little island. And to think I used to go attend lessons in a campus there for a year!
Took a look around TAS (Tourism Academy Sentosa). Nothing new except for a new jaga and a nice resort (should be Amara Resort & Spa) built just next to it. Some new names on the staffing list too. But since we went back on a Saturday, we couldn't visit any of our lecturers and our little juniors, whom we've been hearing are not up to scratch. But then again, which seniors ever admit that their juniors are better than them?
Went to Trapizza to have dinner. Saw Saad and Meng! Think Dean quit already... Those were my nice colleagues I worked with when I was a part-timer there. But there's this new waiter who is rather fierce and unapproachable. Boo boo! Luckily, I'm not working there anymore! The food was good as per normal but the service was... Quite appalling. All I can say is, they better buck up before they close down. Moreover, there are so many new F&B establishments sprouting up in that small island!
Went to Secret Recipe after that for a some desserts to end the day! But they didn't have much selection of cakes left. Actually, nothing that I fancied was available. Fuck. However, the night ended badly for me! I was suddenly down with gastric flu and I had sever gastric ache and nausea waves! Made it back home in time though, thanks to my dad who came to pick me up.
Neway, this is a really late post. Cos we celebrated Peiwen's birthday on 21st July! And it's 31's already! Hur. Was a little lazy to upload the photos. I also went on another little excursion to the zoo with the same group of people! Will update it when I get the pics from Celes and erm... After I come back from Hong Kong. Hee. Will be going there from 1st to 4th Aug! Can't wait!
7/26/2007 Harry Potter & The Deathly HallowsAll right! There are spoilers ahead. I know there are people out there who have not yet read the last book in the Harry Potter series due to the sad reason that it is the LAST book and they want to savour all of it little bit by little bit.
Ok. I have to admit I'm feeling a little sad and lost now that Harry Potter has finally ended and I can't read anymore of what happened to that unfortunate young wizard. I started reading the series when the first book only cost like $11.90 from Carrefour (Unbelievable? I have proof. I left the price tag on the book! Hahahhaha!) I have to admit reading Harry Potter did have its ups and downs. There are bound to be some parts of the series which seemed draggy and uninteresting. But overall, there were more ups than downs. I will definitely miss the anticipation, longing and satisfaction I feel with any wait, release and digesting of the books.
With regards to the last book, I'm a little disappointed with the ending! Firstly, it did seem a little too thin to satisfy my enormous craving. And it was. Ok. So I admit I'm sadistic. I love reading about the duels, bloodsheds and stuff like that in Harry Potter. Therefore, the battle of Hogwarts was a little too short for my liking. Moreover, I have a soft spot for the baddies in stories. So it didn't help that Voldemort and Bellatrix LeStrange died. AND if I seem too evil, I do actually have my favourite goodies too! But Sirius died in Book 5; Dumbledore in Book 6; Fred Weasley (I love the twins! They add the wit and humour to the story!), Snape and Tonks in the latest book. Urm........ So why do my favourite characters die one by one? Too bad I'm not the author, so I can't decide the fate of the characters in the book.
Ok! I remember one of my favourite characters who lived! Lucius Malfoy! He's got style and he's hot!
Another thing was that I felt that Harry's "revival" and survival seem a little too forced. It looked as if J.K. Rowling wanted to write him off at first but decided not to, but thought it too troublesome to go back and change the story again, so she went on to "revive" him. Who knows? I guess Harry Potter is still afterall a story for young children and a commercial one at that. So keeping the hero alive is a crucial point to cater to the masses. Yet at the same time, it would be weird for Harry Potter to die too. Too bad that I don't really dig happy endings so the ending of Harry Potter just didn't really do it for me.
I went to watch Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix the day after I finished the book and the movie just. SUCKED. Probably cos I have read the book before and compared the movie to it. There were so many scenes missing from the movie! It was so choppy, the dueling scene between Harry and entourage against the Death-eaters at the Department of Mystery is WAY TOO SHORT and the ending was absolutely cheesy. What was it with the muting and slow-mo at the scene when Sirius Black died? Wtf. It really is a fucking commercialized movie for kids. The book was a little dark but apparently the movie left that kind of feeling out. Boo boo! Harry Potter fans can definitely skip this instalment of the the Harry Potter movies; it's only for families with children below the age of 13.
Now that the literary series has ended, I hope the next Harry Potter movie will be better than this. I pray they keep the darkness in it and not make it so cheery and M&M's like with those lame scenes. 7/22/2007 Back to books!Ok. Not that I'm going back to study or anything similar...
It's just that... HARRY POTTER IS OUT!
And I'm also currently reading another book, Jostein Gaarder's "The Solitaire Mystery", which is really good! Made me think alot! Not that I never thought about anything at all. So I WANT TO and I MUST finish reading the books soon cos I just can't seem to concentrate on anything else. Those 2 books keep appearing in my mind all the time! And each time, scenes I imagined from "The Solitaire Mystery" comes fleeting into my brain!
It's bad! It's the invasion of the books!
Moreover, I think I'm a teensy weensy bit sick. Diarrhoea, nausea, runny nose and a slight fever don't spell nothing good huh? So I think I shall stay home these few days, specifically my bed in my room to finish reading those treasures!
Shall upload photos of today's dinner at Trapizza another day then! Poo! 7/18/2007 Gatherings galore!May, June and July were crazy thanks to the numerous gatherings I had. Besides the atrocious May and July babies (J/k. I noe they dun really have a choice!) there were also the occasional meet-ups between my different groups of friends.
I could flood this blog with pictures from the meet-ups I had man! I last stopped at Nic's birthday... Then there was Celina's birthday, Loo's birthday (which I couldn't attend... I'm really sorry about it...), Wanni's birthday, Joanne's birthday, Mayday's concert, get-togethers with Twin & Lipei, farewell dinner for Jac (hope she's gotten used to life in the training!) etc etc etc.
All I can say is... Enjoy the pics! They speak a thousand words of the great times I had with all these great people!
7/16/2007 Oh my!!!It's been almost a month since I last blogged!!! And to think I used to be a frequent blogger... This just goes to show how boring my life is now.
I HAVE NOTHING TO BLOG ABOUT!
Anyway... Went to Chomp Chomp on Sunday night with Huiling, Noelle, Christine, Loo and Peirong... And on the way to Mac's from there, we were listening to Backstreet Boys on the car. Wtf! Talk about old school music. Pop was hot during those years. Who cared about rock and emo. Those songs only make people depressional and self-piteous (take a look at those teens on the streets)
Back at home, heard another BSB song on Class 95! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~~~ Let's celebrate pop! BSB, N*Sync, Take 5, Take That, Boyzone, A1, Westlife!!! Ho ho ho! I dun think those people in secondary school listen to them anymore... Boo boo!
Ok. Back to reality... I shall go find my BSB cd!
